Commitment to equality

Under the current University Strategic Plan the University strives to be a vibrant, inclusive and successful University and is committed to the pursuit of inclusive and flexible forms of Higher Education that meets the needs of employers and prepares students to succeed.

The main policies that support equality, diversity and inclusivity in employment at the University are Equality in Employment Policy and Behaviour at Work Policy.

Other specific policies relating to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity are also in place. 

This Scheme enables the University to meet its general and specific duties under the Equality Act 2010:

  • Eliminating unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation;
  • Advancing equality of opportunity across and between different groups;
  • Fostering good relations across and between different groups;
  • Publishing equality objectives (at least every four years); and
  • Publishing information to demonstrate compliance with the equality duty (at least annually).
