Online graduation block FAQs

Student who have fees outstanding with the University will be unable to access online registration for graduation. 

This block will remain on the student’s account until all outstanding charges are cleared.

Payment of fees may be made online by visiting www.solent.ac.uk/pay.

What do I owe?

The balance owed will be displayed when the student tries to access My Graduation.

What is it for?

The balance will be made up of the following charges:

Tuition

  • Unpaid tuition fees from a previous year. This amount will vary depending on your fees and how much you might already have paid. Students can check previous statements for details.
  • BTEC Registration and other course related professional fees
  • While not charged in in the 17/18 academic year, you may owe reassessment (resit or resubmission of work) fees for previous years. For academic year 2016/17 they were £62 per 20 CATS and are often charged in multiples depending on how many resits/resubmissions you have done.

Unreturned Library Books, laptops or other equipment

  • Library book charges. The amount will vary depending on the value of the book. Students can check their invoice, or previous statements for details.
  • Lost laptop and other loan equipment charges. The amount will vary depending on the value of the laptop/equipment borrowed. Students can check their invoice, or previous statements for details.

Accommodation

  • Outstanding accommodation fees
  • Damages and lost keys

Sports Memberships

  • Any outstanding club memberships. Once signed up students remain liable even if they do not attend sessions.

Other Charges

  • Any other miscellaneous charges owing to the University not listed above

How can I discuss the charges on my account or payment arrangements?

 

Please note: Students are liable for reassessment fees whether or not they sit the exam or resubmit the work. Not sitting the exam or resubmitting the work will not be a valid reason for non-payment of reassessment charges.

  • If you wish to query whether a library charge is correct, please contact the Library on +44 (0)23 8201 3681 or via the library enquiry hub. If library books are returned, and library staff are notified at the time the books are returned, of the charge, your account will be credited and you will not be liable for the cost of the books. It may take a couple of days for your account to clear before you can register.
  • If you wish to query or dispute a missing laptop charge please contact the learning resource centres. Upon return of the missing equipment, a credit will be raised, however you will remain liable for any overdue fee which is charged at £6 per day. Upon returning the item and making payment for any late charges it may take a couple of days for your account to clear before you can register.
  • If you wish to query or pay an accommodation charge you should contact the Income Team.
  • If you wish to query a sports membership please contact Solent Sport.
  • To discuss payment arrangements or for any other account queries, students should contact the income team

In you are experiencing serious financial difficulties please contact the Student Hub and ask to speak to a funding advisor.
