Researcher Development Programme

Solent’s Researcher Development Programme (RDP) offers a range of opportunities for Solent staff and research students to develop research, professional and personal skills.

Solent’s RDP is based on the national Researcher Development Framework (developed by Vitae) and is guided by Solent’s research and innovation strategy. The RDP focuses on four key areas:

  • Knowledge and intellectual abilities.

  • Personal effectiveness.

  • Research governance and organisation.

  • Engagement, influence and impact.

The RDP caters for all levels of experience, from early career researchers to doctoral research to those with more experience. Interactive workshops, discipline specific research seminars, and a range of other opportunities are available throughout the academic year. Live sessions are supported by a variety of online resources, all available through Solent Online Learning (SOL).

  • Academic writing (delivered by the Solent Learning and Teaching Institute)
  • Academic publishing

Recommendations for future events are welcomed. Staff wishing to run their own session or propose a session are encouraged to complete the RDp Proposal Form for inclusion in the programme.
