Franchised colleges

Teaching college studentsCollege libraries are expected to meet the immediate needs of students enrolled on franchised courses.

Students enrolled on a Southampton Solent University franchised course have borrowing rights. They will be issued with campus cards and may borrow a maximum of 15 books at any one time.

You are also entitled to make use of electronic information resources, multimedia, and software packages at the University library and learning resource centres.

College students who are not enrolled on a franchised course do not have borrowing rights or access to electronic resources. You are also expected to bring ID with you and sign in before using the library.

Library membership privileges, with some restrictions, are offered to college academic staff who are part of the course teams. Staff will require a campus card, or similar, to be arranged through the University course leader. You should then be able to borrow up to 25 items in order to prepare teaching materials and carry out research.

College staff with no direct involvement in franchised courses have no automatic borrowing rights and will be asked to sign in with ID before using the library.
