Reading lists

ReadingLibrary staff welcome reading lists from all lecturing staff as it enables us to check that the library holds the stock that you are recommending and in particular:

  • That we have sufficient copies of the materials.
  • That we have the material available at the best loan status for that item - eg reference, one-day loan or seven-day loan.
  • We can investigate as to whether you would like digital copies of chapters of books or journal articles.
  • We can alert you to new editions of books you are recommending.

We can also place those reading lists online so that they are available via your Solent Online Learning unit. Please see the reading lists page on Solent Online Learning for videos, staff testimonials and FAQs about this service.

The advantages for the students include:

  • The ability to access a reading list at any time from an internet point.
  • The ability to directly link through to recommended materials if the item is either available on a database or as a digital document (digidoc).

Any reading lists sent to the library should include, as a minimum, the unit title and unit code.  Additional information such as the delivery date of the unit is always welcomed.

For more information on reading lists in general, as well as digital document requests, please consult your information librarian or email
