Enquiry DeskFor guidance using the library catalogue or assistance getting books from the shelves you can ask at the help desk in the library's foyer. Staff at this desk can assist with loan related queries and any other help you may require.
There is another help desk on the second floor for any IT queries.
Online assistance can be found at the enquiry hub. This is a one stop shop for enquiries where you can ask a question using live chat or submit an online enquiry.
If you need more in-depth assistance using library resources, please contact your information librarian. Their details can be found on the library's portal page in our meet the team section.
The library has access to large collections of ebooks and journals and publishers have been working to ensure these resources are fully accessible. Subject to copyright law, many books and journal articles can be scanned so that they can be accessed via screen reading software by students with a visual impairment. The library has a leaflet explaining this:
Copyright for disabilities
Publishers Lookup is a useful service from TechDis provides information on how to source electronic formats of textbooks including details on contacting publishers. The library can also help registered students gain access to library materials via our alternative formats service.
Scanning facilities are on Floor 2A in the library as well as in the learning resource centres. A scan to email facility is also now available via the Canon multi-functional printing devices. Please ask at the help desk on floor 2 of the library for help with using the scanners or ask staff in the other resource centres.
An accessible self issue machine is available in the library foyer and is situated close to the entrance doors to the law library. The machine is on an adjustable height table. In case of any difficulty please seek help from library staff at the information point.
If you would like a book collected and left ready for you at the information point, you can request this via our book collection form.
If you are unable to come to the library and would like to designate another person to borrow on your behalf, you will need to complete a proxy loan authorisation form. This can then be handed to a loans supervisor or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Download the Proxy Loan Authorisation Form
