Disabled parking spaces are available in the University car park near the entrance to the library.
Wheel chair users may gain access to the library via a ramp at the front of the building. There is campus card access to enter the library via a motorised swing gate near the main turnstiles. In case of difficuly please ask for help from staff at the information point desk which is just opposite the gate.
There are lifts to all floors of the library and automatic push button entry doors on all floors.
Disabled toilets are situated on the three main floors of the library building.
There is a library catalogue access point dedicated to wheelchair users in the foyer of the library and adjustable height desks in the library learning resource centre. We also have an accessible self issue machine on a height adjustable table which is located in the foyer.
There are a variety of different study spaces available so please choose the area that best suits your particular needs. There are silent, quiet and group areas available and you can find more on this on our where to study page.
Refuge areas are located in the stair well near the B and C floors. In the event of the fire alarm sounding, wheelchair and other users unable to use the stairs should make their way to one of these refuge areas. Staff will be happy to guide you to a refuge and ensure that fire wardens are informed about where you are located.
If you are concerned at all about emergency evacuations from the library please contact the health and safety office for further information. They can also help you prepare a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) tailored to your individual needs.
