Information skills support

Information skillsUniversity work doesn’t just involve learning about your subject, it also means learning how to carry out research including identifying suitable resources and evaluating your research results; developing an argument, writing in an academic way including correct referencing and presenting  your work to the standard your lecturers expect.

There is a range of support available to help you with all these topics.  The Library staff are able to help with the following areas:

  • For advice on which resources to use for your research, check out the Subject Guides
  • For advice on constructing  a good search strategy, check out the videos we have on doing an effective search
  • For advice on avoiding plagiarism and referencing using Harvard, APA or Oscola, check out the Referencing and RefWorks pages on the portal
