Digital Systems Support Librarian

023 8201 3613

I am part of the library systems team involved with troubleshooting and development of the library management system and provision of the library reading lists service. My role also includes an involvement with the Solent Electronic Archive (SEA), copyright advocacy and alternative formats.

Career Background

Previous to working in this academic library, I have worked for several years in public libraries in Hampshire and in a technical library as Technical Research and Information Officer for the London Borough of Hillingdon.

I have been at the Mountbatten Library since 1997 working in various roles within the loans team, became a Loans Supervisor in August 2007, Library Operations Supervisor (Systems) in September 2010 and Information Librarian covering maternity leave in January 2013.

I took up my current post of Digital Systems Support Librarian in August 2013 after attaining a BSc Econ in Information and Library Studies from Aberystwyth University. I endeavour to help provide an efficient and supportive service for all library users in an approachable and friendly manner.

Studying as a distance learner has generated a particular interest in remote access to library services and resources.

Outside of work, I like to travel and visit different places (preferably sunny) both in this country and abroad if I can - there is so much to see. I also enjoy DIY, poetry, fiction, films, gardening and an allotment - and love big family meals with lots of laughter!
