Loans are limited to educational purposes only and borrowers are required to present their campus card at the store. Students must have completed a corresponding workshop with a technical instructor prior to taking out a piece of equipment. Once the appropriate training is complete, equipment can be booked to borrow for a 24 hour period or 48 hours over the weekend.
All equipment loans of more than the usual loan periods must be signed off by a lecturer in advance (minimum one week and maximum two weeks) of the loan period by using this completed document;

All student bookings will be lost after a grace period of 15 minutes to allow fair usage of facilities and kit. Always check your kit before leaving the stores and please report any faults to staff there.
We accept that reasonable damage occurs in the event of an unforeseen accident. However the University will seek replacement cost of equipment in the event of damage through unprofessional behaviour or through exposure to corrosive elements such as salt water or sand.
For location shoots and specialist equipment students are required to discuss their plans with the appropriate lecturers and technical instructors and return a completed risk assessment form to the stores in advance of their booking.
Risk Assessment Form
When booking the television studios students will need to complete the following form in addition to the risk assessment.
Supplementary risk assessment sheet for use of television and studio equipment
The late return of items results in a fine of £5 per day per item and a global block in order to ensure that students behave professionally and to allow fair access of equipment to all.
The global block includes equipment loans from the stores and loans from the library. This block is only removed after all outstanding fines are paid. Fines should be paid either by card at the stores or by cash at the cash office (located on the first floor of the Andrews Building), then the receipt returned to the stores in order to remove the block.
