Unison and City Mission Basics Bank Drive

East Park Terrace, Michael Andrews Concourse
Wednesday 26 February 2020 (11:00-14:00)

Southampton district UNISON branch has organised a food bank drive for Southampton City Mission.

Come along to the Michael Andrews concourse on Wednesday 26 February to donate food, clothes and toiletries to those in need in Southampton.

Sadly, many food banks in the area do not have enough supplies to cater for the demand in Southampton, resulting in a reduction in the number of food parcels available to vulnerable families.

This means that donations from staff and students are greatly appreciated, and can really make a difference to the local people using these services.

If you'd like to make a donation, please take a look at the lists below for inspiration:

Please donate:

  • Clean, good-condition clothing
  • Soap, shampoo, conditioner, hairspray
  • Deodorants, razors, shaving cream, male grooming brushes
  • Toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Wet wipes, hand sanitisers, hand wipes
  • Sanitary products
  • Carrier bags
  • Toilet rolls

And food items such as:

  • Tinned meats and fish
  • Tinned fruit and vegetables
  • Rice, packets of noodles
  • Potatoes (tinned or packets)
  • Soups (particularly chunky)
  • Sugar
  • Tea, coffee, hot chocolate
  • Custard, rice pudding (tinned or packets)
  • UHT milk
  • Cereal (especially Weetabix)
  • Treats (chocolate, crisps, etc.)
  • Squash
  • Conserves
  • Meals in packets or tins (curry, ravioli, mac and cheese, tuna, pasta pots)

Southampton City Mission have raised that donations for toiletries and tinned vegetables are currently at low levels.

If you're unable to join us on Wednesday 26 February, you can visit the Southampton City Mission website to find out other ways in which you can donate.
