Feel good February

Monday 24 February 2020 (10:00-12:00)

Christmas is a long distant memory, we have survived the January Blues, but spring is still a long way off. Get involved in Feel Good February; There are few better ways to make yourself feel good than helping someone else in the community, especially the elderly, many of whom experience loneliness all year round.

Our Business Foundation students have already been working hard on a community engagement project to combat social isolation and loneliness in the older generation through digital inclusion. One of the most effective ways to combat loneliness, however, is face-to-face contact. And that is where you can help…

We have up to 30 elderly people from Age UK visiting us on Monday 24 February between 10am and 12noon in the Whitebeam Suite, The Spark.

Staff and students can help combat loneliness by supporting Feel Good February in one of 3 ways;

  1. Donate your time to simply come along and have a chat with our elderly visitors
  2. Donate cakes for our elderly guests to enjoy with a cup of tea
  3. If you have more time to spare and are interested in becoming an Age UK volunteer, please have a chat with one of the Age UK representatives. Staff from the University will also be on hand to talk about staff and student volunteering at the University.

Further information about the work of Age UK Southampton can be found here.
