Karen Patel's seminar draws upon research with women makers of colour from London and Birmingham, and explores how identity is negotiated both online and in makers' work, in an increasingly competitive and homogenous craft economy.
Dr Patel is a researcher at the Birmingham School of Media, where she is currently looking at how social media platforms can support diversity in craft practice for the Crafts Council UK.
This seminar is organised by Solent Research Groups @WorkIneqsLife and @CMPsolent, and open to all interested students and staff.
