Payroll registration

If you have secured a job at the University you are required to register online prior to commencing any form of employment at Southampton Solent University. Once you have been offered work by Campus Jobs you must complete an online registration. You will not be paid until you have done this.

Students’ registration is not only compulsory for payroll purposes it is also a legal requirement from HM Revenue and Customs. It enables them to process employment checks, including work permit visas, prior to a student starting a job. During this process, you will be required to agree to the terms and conditions that can be found below:

Please note that fully completed registration means that you will be able to get paid for your work. This is not registration to get Campus Jobs alerts with available opportunities.

How to register

New online registration will only apply to those who have never worked through Campus Jobs, thus never received any form of payment for their work at the University. Those students who previously worked through Campus Jobs will remain on the system and no action will be required. Please make sure that you use your student email address during the registration process.

If you have any queries about online registration, please contact payroll on 023 8201 3382, or email

Getting paid

For your payment to be processed, you will be required to complete the Campus Jobs monthly claim form. This must be signed by your supervisor and/or the budget holder. Once completed and signed, your supervisor will need to submit the form directly to payroll (A101) before the payroll deadline. You may ask for a copy of this form.

Payroll deadline

It is your responsibility to ensure that you complete your forms and bring all required documents to Payroll (A101) before the payroll deadline, which is 3pm on the 8th of each month. If the 8th falls on a non-working day the date will default to the next working day. The December deadline is earlier in the month because of the early pay day.

Any online registration documents or timesheets received after the deadline will be held over to the following month.

The Government's auto-enrolment pension scheme will affect some Campus Jobs workers. Read this information from the University Finance Service for more information about pensions and auto enrolment.
