Moving rooms

Step one Deanery move out

If you want to move rooms, you need to visit the accommodation office on the third floor of the Andrews Building.

The accommodation office has the forms you will need to complete and will ask you why you want to move. This is for two reasons:

  1. They need to find out if there's a problem with your current room so that, if there is, they can sort it out.
  2. To decide whether to waive the movement fee.

Generally if you're having a problem that we cannot fix, then the £25 fee is not levied but if, for example, you want to move to be closer to friends or you want to move from non en-suite to en-suite then you'll have to pay the £25.

Step two

The accommodation office will look for room availability and discuss the options with you.  They will also liaise with your current residence manager, new residence manager and yourself to agree a suitable move date.

Step three

Prior to your move date you will need to visit the accommodation office to collect the paperwork for your new room and make payment of the movement fee (if applicable).

Step four

Pick up the keys to your new room, which you do at the residence you're moving into. To get your keys, you'll need to hand over your new residence agreement and a copy of the movement form. You're now ready to move your stuff.

Step five

Finally, once you've finished moving you need to hand over your old keys to the manager of the residence you have moved from and your inventory form to the residence you have moved into.
