Run (walk) to wellbeing

 It has been proven that being active could lead to a better quality of life. Benefits can be seen in the following areas:

  • Improved long term educational attainment
  • Increased energy levels
  • Reduced levels of illness
  • Improved mental health
  • Reduced risk of strokes and heart disease

If you would like to join us for a leisurely walk, or feel like pushing yourself with a run, then join us in East Park, opposite Mettricks, at 12:20pm, every Thursday for our Run (walk) to wellbeing sessions.

The Run (Walk) starts at 12:30pm and will follow a three mile circuit (six laps of the route below):

If you’d like to come along, you, and any participants you bring with you, will need to complete a PAR-Q form

Terms and conditions of health and physical activity and disclaimer 

  • You warrant, declare and acknowledge that the information given by you in entering this agreement is truthful as we will base all actions on this.
  •  To the best of your knowledge and belief, you are in good health and not knowingly incapable of engaging in either active or passive exercise and that such exercise would not be detrimental to your health, safety, comfort, wellbeing or physical condition. Furthermore, that you will advise us immediately should any of your information change that may affect your health. 
  • Our staff are not medically trained and should you have any concerns with your health, wellbeing and fitness, you should seek independent medical advice before engaging in any physical activity. 
  • You are primarily responsible at all times for your health and wellbeing during physical exercise. Solent University cannot be held responsible for injury or death caused by undertaking physical activities as part of a Solent organised event. 
  • While we respect how you decide to undertake the Run (Walk) to Wellbeing events and this is fully your decision, we do hold the right to ask you to stop if we feel this is beyond your physical capabilities or if we have any concerns regarding your wellbeing. 
  • Appropriate sportswear to be worn at all times e.g. T-Shirt, Shorts, joggings bottoms and trainers. All participants are expected to dress appropriately to the weather as well as the activity.
  • You have read and understood this agreement and all of its terms and conditions before accepting on the PAR-Q form. This agreement will become binding upon both parties once you have completed the form. 

This initiative is open to everyone at Solent, so please feel free to share it and encourage others to attend.

The first Run (Walk) to Wellbeing session takes place on Thursday 15 March 2018.
