Student Residences Network (Resnet)

Students using LaptopThis web site contains information on how students living within the following Student Residences can get connected to Resnet, via the network socket in your bedroom:

  • Deanery 
  • Emily Davies 
  • Hamwic 
  • Kimber (including David Moxon Annexe) 
  • Lucia Foster Welch
  • Blyth (Warsash Campus)
  • Hamblemeads (Warsash Campus)
  • Shackleton (Warsash Campus)

Resnet is an always-on ethernet network connection, it is not a dial-up connection.

Please note that Resnet is a private network connected to JANET (Joint Academic Network) and, as such, any Internet access must be for academic or research purposes only.  We do not attempt to provide the full range of services that you would get with a commercial Internet Service Provider.

Please state your name, your email address, what student residence you're in (including room number) and full details of the problem you're having and what you've tried. 

Information on how to troubleshoot your computer if you have problems connecting, can be found on the troubleshooting pages.

Please be aware that we can only offer limited support for Resnet. Visits are only arranged by the Resnet Team if we deem it necessary and we can only assist you with problems connecting your equipment to Resnet, NOT with configuring any software other than your web browser.
