Staff Pedometer Challenge
10,000 Steps to Health, Stamina and Weight Loss!
The pedometer challenge is an annual event held in memory of our friend and colleague Gary Lewis who passed away in 2009. Gary played an important role in the setting up of Health Spark and was very passionate about physical activity and had a love of walking!
So, why walking?! Well it's the simplest and most accessible form of activity that has been described by some experts as the perfect exercise!
Research has shown that walking 10,000 steps per day will dramatically improve your health, build stamina and burn excess calories. Walking has also been shown to improve self esteem, relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety, and improve mood.
More information on why walking is good for you
Health Spark can loan you a high quality pedometer (worth £30) for the duration of the challenge. If you have your own pedometer, you can still take part as long as you register with the Health Spark Team.
You can pick a target to work towards or just keep walking and see how many steps you clock up. It's that simple!
Sign up to this years challenge on Tuesday 21st May - Thursday 23rd May 2013 in the Andrews Foyer between 10.00am - 2.00pm.
