Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)

MortarboardAccreditation of prior learning is where a student can demonstrate; either through previously certificated studies or through ‘experiential learning’ ie work experience, that they have already achieved the learning outcomes of a unit or a stage/level of a course. Full details of the learning outcomes for your course are available on myCourse or from your Course Leader.

APL does not normally apply to the majority of students who enter with the standard suite of A level or Advanced GNVQ entry qualifications. However, if you feel this might apply to you, you should contact your Unit Leader or Course Leader as soon as possible after enrolment.

All APL claims must be completed and submitted to the Faculty Office by the end of the fourth week of teaching. While your APL claim is being considered, you should attend all scheduled lectures, seminars etc, including those for which you are applying for APL.
