There are over 900 places in the library for students to study, and about 400 with a computer.

Computers in some areas of the library are now bookable. We also have a number of bookable individual and group study rooms in the building.

We are very keen that the rules that apply in the different study areas are maintained for the benefit of everyone.
In these areas you will see red triangular signs.
The main things to remember in this area:Silent Study Area
The main silent area is on the ground floor in the law library (0A).
However the individual study rooms on 1A are also designated as silent study rooms. All Solent students and staff can book these.

In these areas you will see yellow diamond shaped signs.
The main things to remember in this area:Quiet study area
The main quiet study areas are located on floors 1A, 1B, 1C, 2B and 2C.
In these areas you will see a green rectangular shaped sign.
The main things to remember in this area:Group Study Area
These areas are located in GA (basement), 0B (foyer), 0C and 2A.
There are group study rooms located on floor 0B and 0C for students to use. These are for group study only and include computing facilities.

The library assistive technology centre is a quiet study area on the ground floor of the library where students who are registered with Access Solent, can get access to additional resources and special software packages.
We do allow some food and drink in the library but please note that no hot, greasy or smelly food (eg take-aways) should be brought into the library. Only bottled drinks and drinks with lids should be consumed in the library.
