British Library admissions procedure

If you need to view material that is only available in the British Library in St. Pancras, London, you may be eligible for a reader's ticket. Arrangements for admission to the reading rooms are dependent on your status.

Students can apply direct to the British Library where admissions staff will apply their standard admissions criteria. The British Library recommends that you phone in advance to ensure that you are likely to be eligible and you will need to take proof of identity with you.

You must be quite sure that the British Library is the only source before you visit.

Check if you can use the inter-library loans service for any material you may need.
