The library is open for members of the public to visit and use as a reference collection during the following hours only:

  • Monday - Friday (term-time) - 8.30am-9pm
  • Saturday and Sunday (term-time) - 10am-5pm
  • Vacation hours (these are advertised shortly before each vacation).

Access to the building outside of these times is by campus card only and is unavailable to members of the public.

Members of the public are required to provide valid photographic ID in order to obtain a visitor day pass. Please note: only original forms of ID will be accepted, copies and photographs of ID cannot be used.

The library offers the following services:

Subscription Service for individuals
Members of the public may apply to use Mountbatten Library as a borrower. Subscribers are offered a book loans service (up to four three-week loan items at a time).

Corporate membership
Corporate Membership is directly available to groups wishing to subscribe on behalf of several named individuals.

Services for franchised colleges

Students from franchised colleges enrolled on a Southampton Solent University franchised course have borrowing rights. 

We are also members of SCONUL Access for students from other higher education institutions.

Please note: Visitors and subscribers do not have access to the library's electronic resources, study rooms or IT facilities.
