Bibliographic software which helps with your referencing!

RefWorks allows you to create an online store of references for items you have consulted. You can then use these details to produce in-text references and bibliographies on different topics or in a variety of styles, and include these in your assignments.

There are currently two versions of RefWorks available.

  • RefWorks – Legacy: for existing users (you can choose to migrate to RefWorks – New)
  • RefWorks – New: for users who have not signed up to RefWorks before, or who wish to migrate their account to take advantage of the improved functionality

You can also access our help and support section below and information on other reference management tools.

RefWorks - Legacy

This is the existing version of RefWorks.  If you have signed up for an account in the past, you can continue using this version for the time being.  You will need to migrate over to the new version during 2017/18.  Please contact your information librarian if you have any concerns.

You can migrate to a RefWorks – New account at any point and take advantage of the improved functionality it offers.

Please note you will not be able to use your existing Word documents with references created using Write-N-Cite from RefWorks – Legacy with the new version.  Therefore, users with existing Word documents that you wish to edit, must continue to use the Legacy version for the time being.

Going forward, it is best to create new documents within RefWorks – New.  You can easily migrate any references you have in your existing account over to RefWorks - New.
