Self Service Machines
To borrow or return library loans you will need to use one of the self-service machines within the Library
There are six machines located in the library foyer and another on Floor 1A. There is also a height-adjustable accessible machine in the foyer near the main stairs outside ML013.
All machines can be used to issue or return library items.
You will need your campus card to loan items and be asked for your pin number for security purposes. Your pin number is your date of birth in ddmm format e.g. 0104 for 1st April. If you have any overdue loans or blocks on your account you will need to speak to a member of staff at one of our helpdesks.
When returning items, please follow the instructions on the screen. If your item is reserved or from our Warsash campus you will be asked to place it into a red box. Any items placed in the red boxes will be returned from your record within 24 hrs.
When using the self-service machines you can check if you have any reservations or inter-library loans awaiting collection. For more information you can also use the nearby computers to check your library account.
If you have any problems or need help with using the machines please ask at the Mountbatten Information Point in the foyer or the Enquiry Desk on the first floor.
