Reservations
If you discover the book or DVD you require is on loan to other library users, the Library Catalogue will usually allow you to place a reservation.
Items that cannot be reserved are:
-
reference copies
-
1 day loan items
-
items already on loan to you
-
items with copies showing as available on the catalogue (for help finding library material please ask a member of staff).
If an item you need access to is only available at our Warsash campus, you can ask a member of staff to request it to be sent to Mountbatten Library for you. Students studying at Warsash can ask staff at Warsash Library for items only available at East Park Terrace.
To place a hold request, you need to be signed in to the catalogue using your University username and password.
Now search for the book required and click on the 'locations' link to check there are no copies available (if there are copies in, you cannot place a hold request). Click on 'Reserve' and choose where to collect your item (Warsash or Mountbatten) then click on 'Hold'.
You will be told if your reservation is successful and we will notify you when a copy becomes available (via University email/webmail). You can also check your account online - while signed in, click on My Account and then Requests to view the status of your requests.
When a reserved item becomes available, you normally have seven days in which to collect it. Reservations are located on shelves close to the Mountbatten Information Point. They can be self-collected using your campus card number and issued via self-service.
If you no longer need a reserved item, email reservations-ml@solent.ac.uk.
