Logging in and out

Logging In

Before logging in to the Portal you will have limited access to the Portal pages, and will be unable to access My Apps. Logging in is vital as it takes you to your own personal space and opens up all of the Portal options.

Firstly you will need to have your username. It's the first digit or your student number (on the back of your campus card) the first four letters of your surname followed by the first letter of your first name and the last two digits of your student number. Your username is also your email address with @solent.ac.uk at the end.

Type your username in the username box.

  

Next, type your password in the password box.

Initially your password is your date of birth in the format ddmmyy. It is very important that you change your password immediately. You can do this by holding down the ctrl+alt+delete keys on a PC and clicking on 'change password'. Unfortunately you cannot change your password using a Mac although you can call the IT helpdesk on 02380 319455 for assistance.

Click on the blue login box to log in. Shortly you will enter your home page and have access to all the services of the portal.

Using Vista

If you are using the Vista operating system with IE7 please see the page on accessing the portal using Vista.

Using Google Toolbar

You may need to disable the Google toolbar whilst using the portal.

Logging Out

To log out, click on the Logout link in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
