You will probably engage in a variety of different types of work during your time at university. This experience is valued by employers as the majority prefer prospective employees with work experience as well as a degree.
Every experience of work you have is preparing you to stand out from the crowd and will build up contacts, which could lead to a professional job upon graduation.
There is competition for most part-time roles, and you should make sure you put together a good CV or application. Stop into the Solent Futures Centre (RM001) to get one to one advice from a member of our team.

Solent Graduate Jobs
There are an abundance of part-time job opportunities locally in Southampton. The majority of these are in retail, hospitality, catering, care, leisure and tourism. Look in the city centre but also in areas such as Shirley, Portswood and Bitterne, which are all within a few miles of Solent University. West Quay and Marlands shopping centres are good starting points for retail opportunities, and the bars and restaurants in Above Bar Street, West Quay Watermark, Bedford Place and Oxford Street frequently advertise vacancies. Casual work at St Mary's stadium is also an option worth investigating.
Other sources of vacancies include job listings in the Southern Daily Echo as well as Universal Jobmatch on www.gov.uk.
As well as external vacancies another option is the chance to work on campus, employed by Solent University Services Ltd. We have a separate page giving the details of Campus Jobs.
Working for Campus Jobs
