Communications and marketing placements

Having a placement will enable you to apply your theoretical knowledge to the work place, whilst gaining professional experience and skills. Students studying communications and marketing are strongly encouraged to get work experience, almost all sectors will need graduates who can communicate clear messages.

There are countless areas of the journalism and publishing industry in which people can work, such as: advertising copywriter, art editor, writer, newspaper or magazine journalist and copy editor (National Careers Service, 2015).

Make a speculative application to any of the companies listed below, asking about the possibility of having a placement with them. Tailor your CV and covering email/letter to the organisation and positively describe the skills, experience and knowledge you would bring to your work experience.
