Mock Interviews

We offer mock interviews to students and graduates to boost your confidence for the real thing.

There are two main ways to arrange a mock interview:

1. During a Careers Adviser appointment

Visit or phone Students 1st (023 8031 9427) to arrange a mock interview during a standard 40 minute Careers Adviser appointment. At least five days before your mock interview, either hand the following information into Students 1st or email it to careers@solent.ac.uk ensuring that you make the email for the attention of the Careers Adviser who will be interviewing you:

•  Details of the job (job advert plus job description and person specification if there is on) you will focus on in your mock interview
• Your CV targeted to this job OR your completed application form
• Any particular questions you want to be practice answering

Prepare as you would for a real life interview. Turn up on time for your mock interview wearing interview-appropriate clothes. The Careers Adviser will go straight into your mock interview in the role of the employer. You will receive constructive feedback – both on your strengths and areas for improvement.

2. As part of CV and Career Building C+ unit

Mock interviews are assessed as part of the CV and Career Building Curriculum Plus unit. The person providing the mock interview may be a Careers Adviser but you may also be interviewed by other members of staff from the University who have an interest in this type of activity. You will receive a written summary of your performance highlighting your strengths and areas for development.
