Solent Graduate Interns

Work at Southampton Solent University! With a strong track record of innovation and creativity, and winner of the Times Higher Education ‘Most Improved Student Experience’ Award 2015, Southampton Solent University has grown to become one of the country’s leading new universities with strong local roots as well as a renowned international reputation.

Now, with a bold and ambitious five-year strategy in place, we aim to build on these achievements as we meet the needs of students and employers within a rapidly changing higher education arena. Solent University will be employing 22 Graduate Interns, in a variety of roles, for six months from September 2017. The roles cover a range of skills from events to project management. You’ll gain valuable work experience and on-the-job training. In addition, we will be offering five Graduate Intern roles on a 12 month contract.

SME (Small to medium sized enterprise) Graduate Interns

Ten graduates will be placed into small and medium sized enterprises to work on a range of projects for six months. Smaller companies are great to work for as you get more exposure to senior management and a greater chance to get your voice heard. This is an incredible opportunity to gain paid work experience in a company that will offer you a chance to shine. Your role will be integral to the development and growth of the business so you’ll be able to put your skills into practice and make a real difference.

Solent Graduate Learning and Teaching Interns

Ten innovative new roles have been developed to support our teaching and learning agenda. These graduates will work with the Solent Learning and Teaching Institute and will be responsible for conducting research, nurturing innovation and supporting student learning around the university. This will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in teaching, psychology or research.

Solent Graduate Entrepreneurs

The University is 9th in the HE-BCI League Table (2016) for supporting graduate business start-ups. Enterprise is very important to us. This new scheme has been designed to support ten graduates for six months as they set up their businesses. As well as a salary, you’ll be given a mentor and business adviser to work with you as you develop your business. In return, you will mentor undergraduate entrepreneurs and support the work of the university as we develop future business start-ups.

Here are some case-studies of students who have taken part in similar schemes recently:
