What we do

solent futures external viewThe Solent Futures team at Solent is committed to getting students into great graduate careers.

While you're studying they can help you with finding work experience or placements, link you with a mentor, check your CV or offer one to one guidance. Look out for our employer events, which take place throughout the year. If you're in your final year, we have graduate job opportunities just for Solent graduates.

Some of our programmes and events are also available to you after you graduate.

Individual advice and group workshops

Come to the advice desk in the Solent Futures Centre (RM001) if you have any questions about searching for jobs, sharpening up your CV, starting your own business or just need more information about what we do.

We hold weekly workshops during term-time. There are regular sessions on CVs, social media and finding a graduate job, but look out for other topics on more specialist subjects such as careers in teaching.

Careers guidance appointments

These one-to-one 45 minute sessions are appropriate for students who have more in-depth queries. Advisers are asked about postgraduate study, researching career options, decision making and more. We also offer mock interview practice.

Thinking about starting your own business?

Enterprise advisers offer impartial advice and practical help on freelance work and setting up a new business. We recommend that you look at the online advice pages we've created to get an idea of what is on offer, as we have a variety of programmes available. You can also stop in to see us at the Solent Futures centre (RM001).

Looking for work?

Fancy working on campus in one of the University departments or schools? These opportunities are advertised on Solent Graduate Jobs, our jobs website, along with external vacancies, including part-time vacancies to fund you while you study,  work experience and graduate opportunities.
