Competitions, societies and awards

Taking part in the enterprise activities at Solent is one way to develop your enterprising skills, meet new people and try something new.

Many of the activities will enable you to develop networks, that will aid you, whether you choose to take the entrepreneurial or freelance path or you decide you would like to work in an organisation in the future.

Enactus Society

This competition is for current students only.

Enactus is an international non-profit organisation that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilise university students to make a difference in their communities, while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.

Participating students form teams on their university campuses, and apply business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. An annual series of regional and national competitions provides a forum for teams to present the results of their projects, it will then be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. National champion teams advance to the prestigious Enactus World Cup.

In addition to the community aspect of the program, Enactus’s leadership and career initiatives create meaningful opportunities for learning and exchange among the participants, as well as the placement of students and alumni with companies in search of emerging talent.

The Re:So project is the first fully fledged ‘student enterprise’ focused retail store to open in a UK shopping centre, and aims to be a bespoke boutique where punk collides with elegance in a unique collection of art, fashion and music.

This enterprising retail outlet will enable students to explore the commercial side of their creativity and sell their original work at realistic, commercially viable prices.

The Re:So boutique is stocked with an eclectic mix of fashion, accessories, publications, furniture, photography and art created by students and recent graduates from the University. There are a number of ways to get involved in Re:So, whether that is selling your own products or helping with the business side of running the shop. It is a great opportunity for creative students to share their talents and for those students wanting to gain some more ‘hands on’ business experience.
