Moving out

When the time comes to move out of the residences, make sure you have all the information you need.

If you are leaving residences early, make sure you fill out a vacating student residences form, contact the accommodation office for more info or check out the leaving early page.

Room charges

To ensure that you are not charged for any damages to your room please return it in the same state that you received it from the University.  Take a look at our list of common charges.

Don't fancy filling up the car with cans of beans or books you don't want?  Why not recycle them? Please leave any unwanted items at the office.

Examples of items we can take:

  • Unopened food
  • Crockery
  • Books
  • Small electrical appliances


You can also donate unwanted items to charity. SCRATCH (Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship) is a charitable company, limited by guarantee, formed in October 1999.

The mission statement for SCRATCH is 'to relieve the effects of poverty for families and individuals with needs recognised by approved referral agencies in Southampton and surrounding area.'
